“CFWC Keeping Up With The Times"
California Federation of Women's Clubs
CONVENTION ARTS & CRAFTS SHOW
MARY LOU BENZEL
OBJECTIVE: To encourage member’s creativity and contribute to the art education activities in their communities. Participation in the arts helps to raise public awareness and connects Members and Clubs to their communities, while educating and promoting the achievements of women in the arts.
GFWC Emphasis: “CREATIVITY IS CONTAGIOUS, PASS IT ON.”
The GFWC Arts Community Service Program encourages members to promote and support arts activities in their clubs, schools, and communities. It is designed to inspire clubwomen and ignite within them a desire to make their world a more beautiful place. As Edgar Degas once said, “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” The goal is to create programs and projects that include music, literature, dance, drama, theatre, and other arts-related areas, both traditional and innovative, that cause the world around us to see and feel what they might have only once imagined
Develop art opportunities for people with special needs and foster youth community art.
Host student art contests at local Clubs and invite the public to the “Art Shows”.
Community and District Art Shows and Contests give recognition to the unique artistic talents of GFWC Members and Students via awards and certificates.
