“CFWC Keeping Up With The Times"

California Federation of Women's Clubs

The United States Department of Justice defines domestic violence as a patter of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another partner. This abuse can be: physical, sexual, emotional, psychological or economic.

This Chairmanship also includes:  support for CFWC programs to prevent child abuse, elder abuse, human trafficking, as well as sex trafficking.

I strongly encourage everyone to read the new 2018-2020 GFWC’s Signature Program: Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention. It contains a great deal of information and many project ideas.

The GFWC Signature Program Committee is challenging the State Federations to raise awareness and benefit domestic violence shelters in our state and others by having a “Purse Contest’ at our annual CFWC State Convention next year. President Dori and the officers are encouraging clubs to enter their purses, filled with items such as shampoo & conditioner, toothpaste & toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, feminine products, tissues, etc., at the 2019 CFWC Convention. These will then be donated to the respective district or club’s area shelters. The purses can also be used as table decorations at club, district and finally, at the next CFWC convention.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Have your members wear purple ribbons                              to bring awareness, tie ribbons on trees in an approved area with a explanation sign and/or                           discuss it at your October meeting.

GFWC recognizes State Federations for outstanding projects & clubs for creative projects in implementing effective projects in this category by awarding Certificates and one $50 Award to one club in the nation for Project creativity.

I look forward to assisting the members of CFWC in any way I can.
