“CFWC Keeping Up With The Times"

California Federation of Women's Clubs

As the Inspiration Chairman I will start the meeting with an Inspirational reading, whether it is something to make you laugh, fill you with joy, spark your enthusiasm and always on a positive note.

As in the past, there are no reports in this department on the CFWC level. We do encourage each District to have an Inspiration Award. Have your clubs write a report or summary about what and how they use readings to inspire their members.

I am looking forward to serving as your Inspiration Chairman for 2018-2020.

I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did… But people will never forget how you made them feel.” Author: Maya Angelou

I will be the timekeeper for all CFWC meetings including CFWC Conventions. Please pay attention to the time limit that is set when giving your report. CFWC uses a 2 or 3 minute limit unless stated differently. This time limit is “very important” in order to keep the meeting on time. Signs will be held up near the podium, which tell you exactly how much time you have remaining. It is a good idea to locate the signs prior to the beginning of your presentation.

Practice and time your report before presenting. Tip! I use a recorder at home not only to time myself but also to listen how my presentation sounds. Do not try to squeeze 5 minutes into 2 or 3 by going faster. When preparing and writing your report, make it concise, informative, and brief. You will find that when you go too fast or give too much information, members have a tendency to lose interest and your message can be lost.  Remember to provide the correct number of copies of your presentation to the CFWC Corresponding Secretary at the time of your presentation.

Giving reports can be unnerving, my advice to you is just be yourself, have fun, and just pretend you are telling a story and you will do just fine!

Yours in Federation,
