Area A Vice President

Area A’s Membership is Amazing, Awesome & Astounding!

Greetings from Area A! We are a very large area that covers 34 counties in the northern part of our state. There are 6 Districts in Area A: Alameda, Loma Prieta, Mount Diablo, Redwood, Shasta, and Sutter. We have some of the most beautiful scenery and real estate found anywhere, from the rugged north coast with its majestic Redwoods, the scenic Sacramento Valley, the hub of technology in Silicon Valley, and fertile farmlands.

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be your CFWC Area Vice President and to work with such an awesome team of District leaders. All of us are hard at work putting final touches on the transition to the new term and planning the programs and projects for the next two years.

What does an Area Vice President do? We are part of CFWC’s membership team; we work with the CFWC 2nd Vice President, who is the Membership Director. At state board meetings, the membership team holds workshops giving new and interesting information on membership. An Area Vice President also helps districts form new clubs, promote Federation goals, offer advice on membership recruitment, retention and long-range membership goals. Area VP’s should know the basics of parliamentary law and be familiar with the CFWC Bylaws and Standing Rules. We should be visible within our Area and visit all of our Districts. Please invite me to your events.

Now is the time for us to set our membership goals for the new term. What do you hope to accomplish? Do you have a favorite project you would like to support? Have you worked up a program, something the membership can get behind to accomplish the project? It can be as big or small as you want, a one-time event or ongoing through your whole term, get creative and try new things to build excitement.

My goal is to see an increase in membership as well as more participation in District and CFWC events. How will this be accomplished? The program is a work in progress, and is surely going to be multi-faceted, building off of tried-and-true methods and hopefully some new and fun ideas. However, one thing that is set in stone…this can’t be accomplished without your help.

We are going to need all “Boots on the Ground” to continue to build our membership, to let everyone know how wonderful the California Federation of Women’s Clubs is. Please send me information and pictures, on your membership programs to be included in the new “CFWC Area A Today” newsletter. Do you have membership teas, promote membership at your fundraising events with brochures, banners and other information, do you wear your pins while out shopping? Send anything that you’ve done.

Together we can do anything!
